The Programme
Rationale
As European citizens and teachers, we do believe that schools must ensure modern, open and democratic societies by ewe need to take part in cooperative and collaborative activities which involve different European countries and strengthen the European dimension of our educational institutions. That is why we have done our best to involve partners from all over Europe-experienced and inexperienced ones, from EU member states and candidates, and to build a strong and successful partnership. We aim to help the unexperienced schools acquire experience in project work. 2010 is European year of combating poverty and social exclusion and European year of nonviolence. All our schools face such problems as early school leaving, social exclusion, aggression and violence. We need to exchange experience and ideas and to team up in order to cope with these problems because no school could do it on its own. We aim to encourage and inspire teachers and students to participate in overcoming these common school problems.
On the other hand, some of our students are not interested enough in the school life and often lose their motivation in learning and taking part in school activities. We hope that this partnership will have a positive influence on everyday life in schools and will raise students interest in learning foreign languages and learning about other European countries and cultures.
Our students take part in many innovative activities, both in our curriculum and extra curricular so as to motivate them and raise their interest thus raising their desire to stay in school and combating early leaving or annual dropping out. Students need motivation and encouragement to develop their abilities, to acquire extra knowledge and skills. We hope that the project will provide a good way to encourage students to get involved in the EU matters. This will also offer the possibility of developing the concept of active European citizenship, based on understanding, respect and tolerance towards other cultures. By this project we hope to promote the European values and the idea of Lifelong learning among our students and to expand the level of commitment to the community of our school by embracing the European dimension. We expect that our students would benefit from experiencing the cultural diversity offered by this project. This will allow them to have a greater understanding of the social and common European problems that occur in other countries, and therefore to suggest solutions for the future based on knowledge, experience and informed understanding.
The global world changes require creativity and adaptability. Our students spend a lot of time at school. Involving as many as we can in the project activities we hope to help the pupils make a success of their lives. Through the project we would like to invest in our pupils talents, to enhance their personal development, active citizenship and social inclusion. In our educational institutions we teach diverse and multicultural group of students from different, often lower socio-economical background. Giving our students the opportunity to take part in the project we aim to motivate them for learning, to develop their learning-to-learn skills, to stimulate their participation in sports and art activities and as a result of all mentioned above to reduce the early school leaving. We also aim to help the students discover their own heritage and all their internal, local and national treasures and share them with the others whilst interacting with their coevals and gaining an intercultural awareness as they learn about culture of others taking part in the partnership. Our students will be able to share experience on what it means for them to be European citizens.
Another reason to set up and develop our project is the opportunity to integrate the best teaching practices, methods and approaches achieved and developed during the years of the partnership into the daily work of our educational institutions. We also would like to share good practices and experience to new colleagues in our schools and to other teachers in our regions, countries and all over Europe.
At the end of the partnership, we will do our best to find different ways of staying in touch, communicating and collaborating with each other and we will give courage to our students to keep the partnerships with their new friends from partner schools.
