Bishop Vaughan is a Catholic Voluntary Aided Comprehensive School which caters for the religious, educational and pastoral needs of Catholic children aged between 11 and 18 from Swansea and surrounding areas. Pupils entering the school represent the full range of ability. We also have a sizeable minority of pupils from ethnic minorities, with an increasing number requiring extra help with English. All pupils will be encouraged to participate in this project thereby developing their skills and confidence and enhancing their sense of community. We offer a range of pre and post 16 vocational courses that address the issues of skill development, community involvement, leadership and active citizenship, on a national, European and worldwide level. We hope that this project will develop the European dimension of their studies and allow all pupils embrace cultural diversity and tolerance within and out of our school. We hope it will also promote our common European values and show them the positive benefits of studying and communicating ideas on an international platform. Our pupils are encouraged to participate in extra-curriculum clubs such as sport, languages, music, eco and debating, raising their self-esteem and encouraging achievement. We hope that this project will encourage all students to take a more active role both in school and their communities and to become active European citizens. As a partner in this project one of our roles will be to design and maintain a Moodle platform for communication between the partners and to showcase the work achieved.
