In Rigas Secondary School nr. 28 are being educated 400 pupils at the age of 7 to 19. 120 of them are secondary school students. There are 48 teachers, mostly women. The majority of pupil families have minimum survival income or even less. Almost half of the students haven’t got full families; some of their parents are working in foreign countries. There are also some orphans. The major part of the parents because of their work and long-day job can not be fully informed about their child success and achievements, as well as to control their education and upbringing. The school programs realization is mostly linked to a real life and current events. School also organizes learning excursions and field trips, visits to museums and other educating places. Teachers are trying to encourage students to express their own thoughts and opinions, ideas, analyze them and try to put into the learning process. Successful is teacher and pupil dialog. Students admit that they can openly share their thoughts with teachers and can ask them an advice if anything is not understood. Students, who have more problems with understanding, are paid special attention. Their work is being analyzed in order to find the causes of their problems, as well as are made attempts to improve pupil achievements.
